Norzagaray College Endorses Pre-Service Teachers for Field Study and Teaching Internship
Amid the continuing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the College of Education of Norzagaray College formally endorsed its fourth-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) students for Field Study and Teaching Internship during the First Semester of Academic Year 2023–2024 under a Flexible Learning Modality on November 23, 2021.
The deployment of pre-service teachers was implemented pursuant to Joint CHED–DepEd Memorandum Order (JCDMO) No. 1, Series of 2021, which provides the Policies and Guidelines on the Deployment of Pre-service Teachers for Field Study and Teaching Internship, ensuring alignment with DepEd Order No. 12, Series of 2020 or the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) and CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) No. 4, Series of 2020, which outlines the Guidelines on the Implementation of Flexible Learning. Further guidance was drawn from CHED Memorandum Order No. 16, Series of 2022, emphasizing that on-the-job training and apprenticeship shall be conducted primarily through onsite learning, subject to prevailing health and safety conditions.
In response to these policies, the College of Education ensured that Field Study and Teaching Internship courses remained experiential, developmental, and aligned with DepEd’s BE-LCP and the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs) through coaching, mentoring, and guided teaching practice. Strict health and safety measures were observed in accordance with DepEd Order No. 014, Series of 2020, prioritizing the health and well-being of students and partner schools.
Fourth-year BEEd and BSEd students were deployed to DepEd partner elementary and secondary schools in Norzagaray and nearby municipalities, reinforcing collaboration between the Teacher Education Institution and cooperating schools.
The initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by ensuring the continuous preparation of competent and adaptable teachers; SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through the implementation of health protocols and learner safety measures; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening cooperation between Norzagaray College and DepEd partner schools.
Through this program, Norzagaray College reaffirms its commitment to delivering quality, inclusive, and resilient teacher education responsive to post-pandemic educational needs while safeguarding the welfare of all stakeholders.
