ABSTRACT
This study investigated waste management practices among small restaurants in Norzagaray, Bulacan, focusing on solid waste segregation and disposal. Employing a qualitative descriptive research approach, the study utilized interviews to gather data in the involvement of both tourists and local residents in environmental sustainability efforts. The findings revealed that Bakas River significantly contributes to the local economy by providing job opportunities, generating income, and attracting tourism, which in turn enhances economic growth and popularity as a tourist destination. However, the research faced limitations due to its focus solely on the residents of Bakas River, excluding other tourist destinations in Norzagaray. The study highlighted the critical role of local residents in maintaining environmental sustainability and addressing the challenges faced in managing tourist destinations. By identifying the waste management practices and their impact on the environment, the research offers valuable insights for improving sustainability efforts in tourist areas. This research underscores the importance of local engagement in preserving tourist destinations and contributes to understanding the broader implications of environmental sustainability in community and economic development.
