Bachelor of Science in Computing Studies (BSCS)
The BS in Computing Studies program includes the study of computing concepts and theories, algorithmic foundations, and new developments in computing. The program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software and develop new and effective algorithms for solving computing problems.
The program also includes the study of the standards and practices in Software Engineering. It prepares students to acquire skills and disciplines required for designing, writing, and modifying software components, modules, and applications that comprise software solutions.
Associate Computer Technology (ACT).
The ACT degree program may lead to the following baccalaureate degree programs depending on the specialization taken by the student and the policies of the offering HEI: BS in Computing Studies, BS Information Systems, BS Information Technology and BS Entertainment and Multimedia Computing. Henceforth, these programs shall be referred to in this PSG as Baccalaureate Computing Programs.
It is a program that is normally taken for a minimum of two years, after the K-12 Basic Education program. Students or graduates of other degree programs who wish to pursue a computing profession may also enroll in this program. The ACT may be considered as initial entry program, although not exactly equivalent to the first two years of the baccalaureate computing programs. As such, the existing policies and standards for Information Technology shall be strictly followed.
